Breath

Breath, something we take for granted

and never really pay attention to.

Who would have thought it to have such benefits

It keeps us alive.

Without breath we are not living.

It helps us with our health.

So the next time you breathe, pay attention.

Pay attention to the fact you are breathing.

Pay attention to every breath entering your body.

Hitting your nostrils before cutting a path

Down into your body.

When you breathe in,

feel it as cool air entering

Feel it filling up your belly.

When it is not filling up your belly.

It is not yogic breathing.

When you breathe out,

Fill your belly deflating.

Breathe in and out, in out as exercise.

Train yourself to breathe slowly and slower.

Buddhism said our live span is due to breaths.

Not according to how years

But how many breaths we have left.

Just engage in that exercise, you’ll find

Your body knows how to breathe.

As you breathe in and out out.

You will notice your breath slowing,

Your mind slowing, slowly emptying.

Your entire body slowing down.

Your breath cooling.

When you feel your breath cooling,

You know you have achieve it.

The beneficial effects of breathing.

It calms your mind down, lowering stress.

It lowers your body temperature,

Helping to control your blood pressure.

It lulls your body into a state of rest.

Helping it to restore itself after much use.

It helps your blood to flow,

Enriching all areas of your body.

It helps you connect to your inner self.

To the Divine, to God, to the Infinite Creator.

Whatever name you call this Being, that energy

You sense, experience and believe in.

Overall, breath has immense benefits.

It helps heal your body.

Your body has ability to heal itself.

And what is the conduit but breath.

Breath is energy, we are energy.

We are made of energy.

So breathe, dear ones, breathe.

Breathe it slow and easy and lovely.
