I watched a video,

Where the person said Jesus’ words made no sense.

Offer the other cheek.

Why offer the other cheek?

Yesterday, I was dwelling on those words.

When it came to me, how saints return injury, insults.

Therein, I saw the answer.

Jesus was not asking us directly to do that.

His words are not meant to be taken literally.

What he was asking us was not to return in kind.

Not to return a slap for a slap.

Instead, return all injury insult, with grace and love.

That act is akin to offering the other cheek.

However, often taken aback by such graciousness,

It would not be met with another slap.

Instead, such kindness might just turn around a change of heart.

In like manner are the saints, sages and holy monks.
