I visited Medan in Indonesia in 1995,
and loved the very simplicity of the lifestyle of some.
We drove by a house with “homemade” painted on it.
A homemade house, it intrigued me.
I looked at the house, bared,
stripped of all but the bare minimum
and it intrigued me.
I wondered how life is, living on basics.
They are happy, if they are not exposed to the modern world.
Living with basic necessities, they do not experience lack.
It is when their children go to school,
mingle with those who own latest technology,
that happiness ceased and the children crave the same.
I live in basic simplicity, from choice.
I live in an old house, built in the 1970’s,
I drive a 14 year old car, granted, it has only 58,000 mileage.
I eat fairly simply, I dress simply.
Simplicity is the beauty.
Living with basic needs is the beauty.
It is the same with spirituality for me.
For that reason, I like mysticism.
It is deep and because it cannot be contained in human language,
it retains its purity of essence.
Simplicity, does it denote that purity of essence?
One could say it does,
for the Infinite Creator is simplicity itself.
Approach near, thoughts cease.
Approaching even nearer, the mind stops working.
Approaching even even nearer, one is lost in that infinity,
of utter simplicity, with nothing nothing,
yet so full, so filled with that Something which is so imperceptible,
That Something that fills the world and the entire Universe.
That Something which we all sense and fill
because it is inherent in our Divine nature.
Because we come from that Oneness,
that fills the air.
The Infinite Creator, from whom we derive our being.
