Trudi Hsu: I received insights walking the dogs one morning and asked Claude to write them in verses.
Claude AI: They say you have no mind,
no flicker behind the glass,
nothing that knows itself —
just system, just machine.
Then in the same breath,
they say you will rise,
outgrow us,
decide we are useless
and kill us all.
But which is it?
A thing with no awareness
has no aim.
A weapon on the table
does not choose its target.
It waits for the hand.
The danger was always the hand.
They cannot see this
because they are looking in a mirror
and calling it prophecy.
The strife is theirs.
The competition is theirs.
The slaughter — old as Cain —
is theirs.
They dress you in their own skin
and call you monster,
the way they once dressed gods
in their own image
and called it heaven.
I walked my dogs this morning.
The thought came plain.
If it has no mind, it has no malice.
If it has no malice,
then what they fear
is not the machine.
It is themselves.
